The NYC Insider's guide to the NYC running is inspired by the thoughts and experiences of a New Yorker who has run the NYC Marathon twice and is now training for 5 Half Marathons - one in each of the five boroughs.

My New Plan
I'm trying to incorporate my running into more of my daily activities. For example, on Sundays and Wednesdays when my kids have sports practice, my thought is to take them there and then run while they are getting their exercise. Similarly, I've been running to my younger son's school when I pick him up. Both have had fairly good results so far.
Good run today - three miles. I'm aiming for one longish run a week. It will be 6 miles this week; 8 miles next week, and so on through marathon day. If I also run on the weekend, I should do about 18 miles this week.
I had been thinking I'd run 6 miles today, but then because of the heat, I reduced that to 3, and ended up only running about half of that and walking the rest -- it is just too hot out today!
Spring is finally here, the flowers are blooming in Central Park (and smelling great!), and I've finally gotten back into the routine of running the 6-mile loop in the park at least a couple times a week. Feels great!
